It was built in 1964. This is transistorized unlike the ones before it and still has that great t o sound. It is in very nice cosmetic condition but i cannot pick up very many stations across the bands. Zenith made only one model after this the r 7000 which appeared in three model variations into the early 1980s.

In 1964 zenith added provisions for an ac adapter and redesignated the 3000 as the 3000 1. I thought it was a steal and it is. The 3000 series and 1000 series have many parts in common. The model 3000 is a nine band radio including am seven shortwave bands and for the first time in any transoceanic fm.

This book was totally entertaining and informative for a radio lover like me explaining how zenith came into. The 3000 series trans oceanic was introduced in late 1962 and was primarily a revised model 1000 with an fm tuner.
